Are High Ketones During Fasting Dangerous?

So today we’re going to talk about the amount of ketones in your body when you’re fasting, and if it’s dangerous if these ketone levels go too high. The problem is mainstream medicinedoes not differentiate between something called nutritional ketosis, which is the healthy versionof ketosis, and something called diabetic ketoacidosis. So sometimes when you go to yourdoctor, if you mention you’re on the ketogenic diet, you might not get support. I mean, even if

you do a search on ketones on Google, you’ll get all sorts of very unfavorable things that willshow up. You’ll get the connection between ketones and diabetic ketoacidosis being a complicationof diabetes that can lead to a coma or death. And of course, you don’t want a coma or death. Sowhy would you want to do the ketogenic diet? You also see things that we’ll talk about. Ketonesbeing in the urine can prompt you to get a test before a medical emergency occurs.

That’s pretty scary. Then I saw this other interesting quote that talks about you canget a urine ketone test that can help you monitor if you’re at risk for developing ketones. Soobviously they’re not differentiating going into ketosis in a healthy way or having diabetes typeone and developing something called diabetic ketoacidosis because you’re not monitoring yourinsulin and you’re allowing your blood sugars to go too high because there’s no insulin in there

to regulate it. And then the body has uncontrolled diabetes, uncontrolled blood sugars, and it’s a dangerous state. So on your ketone levels, you can see in this little chart here,it goes from one to 12. Now, normally when you start the ketogenic diet, that’s callednutritional ketosis. You’ll find your numbers usually go between one and three, sometimes upto five if you add exercise and intermittent fasting. That’s totally healthy. There is

nothing wrong with that. In fact, there’s so many benefits from doing that. I mean, I’ve done lotsof videos on that, but you can also progress to six to seven to eight when you are doing fasting.Let’s say you’re doing fasting for two, three, four, five days. Your ketone levels are going togo a lot higher, but this is still not a dangerous state. It’s not when you get to like 10, 11, 12,that it becomes a dangerous situation and this usually always occurs if you’re a type 1 diabetic

and you forgot to take your insulin so I just wanted to create this short video to increaseyour awareness on the difference between nutritional ketosis and the unhealthy versionof developing ketones in your blood which nearly always comes from an uncontrolled diabeticsituation. Now, if you don’t get support from your medical doctor, simply ask the doctor, what is the difference between nutritional ketosis and diabetic ketoacidosis? And just

see what they say. You’re going to be quite surprised that they don’t even know whatnutritional ketosis actually is. Hey, before you go, if you’re benefiting from any of my content,I would love to hear about your success story. Please share it in the link down below.Thank you.
