How Much Grams Of Protein on Keto? – Dr.Berg CLARIFIES!

So I recently had a question about a confusion someone had related to proteins. And I wantedto just create this one video just on that one question. And it relates to the protein amountin protein foods versus the total weight of protein foods. Because if you were going to take, for example, six ounces of ground beef and weigh it, it’s going to be about 168 grams, right? And so in their mind, they’re thinking, wow, 168 grams of protein, that’s like way too much

protein because you’re supposed to do a moderate amount of protein. But I want to differentiatethe difference between the weight of the food versus the protein in that food. Just becausesomething is a protein food does not mean that it’s 100% protein unless you’re doing some type ofprotein powder but when you’re talking about ground beef turkey egg ground pork fish not allof that is protein okay so let’s just take a look at ground beef six ounces you have 168 grams of

protein but you only have 30 grams of actual protein within that food what else makes upthat weight well you have a combination of fat and water okay so maybe i should clarify this morebecause when I’m talking about how much protein you need to consume within a meal, and I alwaysrecommend three to six ounces, okay? I never really talk about how much weight of actual protein, but I talk about this right here. Let’s say, for example, we take turkey at six ounces,

168 grams of total weight, but only 48 grams of protein. Now, the question is, why would this beso much more than this if they’re the same weight? Simply because turkey has less fat, okay? And this, we’re talking about about 80% lean protein, okay? 20% fat. So this is going to bemore because it’s leaner, but because you have the same weight. All right, so now we have one egg, large egg, 50 grams of total weight, but only 7 grams of protein. Ground pork,

4 ounces. We’ve got 112 grams of total weight in that food, but only 23 grams of protein. And thenfish, 4 ounces, 1, 13, and only 20 grams of protein. So I hope that clarified things.I recommend three to six ounces for an average person per meal, but this could go up dependingon several things. Number one, your metabolism, how big you are, and how much exercise you do.Also, if you’re having less meals, maybe you want to go up on the protein a little bit as well.

Now for myself, I weigh about 180 pounds and I pretty much stick with about 58 grams of proteinprotein per day. So you can kind of get an idea of how much protein that I would eat in a specificday. If I’m doing about 58, which is close to 60, so you like two of these right here,or maybe three servings of fish that’s four ounces. All right, so I hope that clarifiedthe question, and I’ll see you in the next video. Hey, if you’re liking this content,
