You want to see a trick? I’m going to show you today how learning a little bit about magic can make your stubborn abs start to magically appear a little bit [Music] quicker. What’s up guys? Jeff Cavalere, ax. com.
Today it’s all about the magic. Breaking out the magic tricks to help you guys get abs faster. I want to start with my favorite one though. I want to see if you can recognize it. Okay, here’s Jeff Cavalier before abs.
Okay, but a little wave of the wand. I turn around. There you go. I’ve got abs just that quick. Yes, it’s possible, guys, if you listen to the wrong people.
You guys know that’s the [ __ ] kind of magic. And that’s not what we do here. What I want to tell you guys about though is about how magic can actually help you to get abs quicker if we start learning the right things from it. We know that when we see a magician, they want to there’s two things that they do that we can learn from. They want to misdirect you.
They want to focus all the action on the moving part while the real actions going on down here where nothing’s moving at all. Right? If they’re a good magician, they can pull off a trick without you even seeing any movement at all. But they want to distract your attention by having you tell, “Hey, what’s the card? Everybody remember the card?
Remember the card? ” You’re watching the hand and everything’s going on down here. When we do our ab training, guys, I think we tend to focus so much on putting the emphasis on the abs in movement, right? We do all the crunches. We’ll even do a lot of the hanging leg raises, making the abs move.
And you guys, I know you like, you know, I like the hanging ab variations, but I think there’s an opportunity to overload the abs a lot more athletically if we stop putting them as the focus of the movement. As a matter of fact, we put them as the non-moving part down here like the magician. Let me show you exactly what I’m talking about. If we take a cable setup here, it could be a crossover or it could be two bands hung at home if you want. If you come down here and you pull the bands down in front of you, we know that the moving part here is obviously the arms.
And you know that this is the beginning of a crossover movement. But you can see right off the bat, the second I pulled these bands down or these cables down, the abs got fired up because we know they want to come up and slingshot me back up that way. But I’m not going to allow that to happen. So, I’m going to come down here, engage the abs. But here’s where it gets better.
This is just the start. We want to then raise our arms up. Okay? I’ve talked about before boxers and their ability to aesthetically and powerfully build their abs because of all the rotation and controlled rotation. That’s exactly what we’re going to do.
We’re going to take our arms up top here, okay? And then bring it across our body. You can see what that does to the obliques and the serratus that tie in with the abs. Again, the whole time here, I’ve got time under tension on the abs as well.
So you can see not much movement going on down here. A lot up here, but all the action, as you can tell by my breath, was being done right here in my core. There’s a lot you can learn from that, guys. Start putting your abs out of the active movement equation and start allowing them to be fired up internally from the inside out by having to control the movements of the extremities. You’ll see that you can overload.
I can put that waist stack a lot higher than that and overload my abs a lot more effectively than I can in a standard crunch or whatever other crunching variation we have and even some of the hanging uh leg variations like I talked about. The second biggest thing when it comes to magic, guys, is again slight of hand, focusing on the wrong thing. If you have a big beer belly, you’re focusing on the wrong thing. If you think that doing these exercises is going to be the secret for you or your magic trick or your one, you know, simple uh simple trick to a flat stomach. All that stuff is BS, guys.
I said it in the beginning. You got to get your diet in check. But here’s the cool thing. as your coach, I care about you guys and I have you covered. I’ve got that covered in uh in our complete program, guys.
