Numb & Tingling Feet? How to Reverse Nerve Damage
Numbness in feet is not a nerve problem. Discover the most common root cause of peripheral neuropathy, the connection between high blood sugar and tingling feet, and how diet can help relieve the symptoms of diabetic peripheral neuropathy.
Numbness and tingling in your feet. Let’s talk about what’s actually happening. If you have numbness or burning or tingling or prickling or some type of pain in the bottom of your feet or your toes, I’m going to share with you a very powerful remedy. A lot of people end up at the doctor’s office with the doctor telling them there’s nothing that can be done about this. Nerves don’t heal.
You’re going to have to live with it, but we have some medication for you. Or maybe they might even suggest surgery. If you’re like me, you want alternatives to medication because medication doesn’t get to the root cause. I want to share with you the mechanism and the real cause, which just so happens not to be the nerves. Let that sink in.
When you have numbness and tingling in the feet, typically the name of that is called peripheral neuropathy. Peripheral refers to something on the end of the nerves, like the bottom of your feet or even your toes. Neuropathy means nerve and disease. It’s a disease of the nerve. We’re going to focus on the most common one, which relates to being a diabetic or pre-diabetic.
I’m also going to give you a download to cover the protocol for other types of peripheral neuropathy in the description. But let’s talk about the most common one first. If someone’s blood sugar is too high and they’re starting to have insulin problems, what happens is the demand for vitamin B1 goes very, very high. If you take a diabetic, type 1 or even type 2, they usually have a severe deficiency of B1 because B1 is needed to handle sugar metabolism in the body. The tiny blood vessels around the nervous system do not get enough cellular energy.
So, the nerves start dying at the very end of the nerve first, the toes. This is why even a diabetic you’ll notice the symptoms in the toes first, then the bottom of the feet because when you have damage of the tiny blood vessels, it creates a lack of oxygen to that tissue. That’s called hypoxia, which destroys the nervous system. And anything in that area, low B1 in the body creates a lowered amount of energy and a build up of the waste product called lactic acid. Now, there’s actually two other mechanisms.
It’s very simple. I’ll just explain it. Also start building up a certain type of sugar alcohol that drowns the cell. It’s not going to get oxygen. It can’t get nutrients.
It’s going to die. And also there’s damage going on to the myelin sheath. You need a very special type of vitamin B1 called benfotiamine. Another mistake is not taking enough. You need a therapeutic dosage.
Usually I would recommend taking 150, 200, 300 to 600 taken that three to four times a day spread out to really saturate the nervous system to be able to heal the body. Some people have this idea that I can just take benfotiamine to heal my peripheral neuropathy and not change my diet. That’s not going to work. Because now this is going to be expensive urine. This is going to go right through you.
If you don’t change your diet, it’s going to be impossible to fix this. Why? Because you keep flooding the body with too much sugar, keeping the cause of the problem ongoing. So, there is a back door into the nervous system that allows a different type of fuel and that’s called ketones. This is why one of the most important things to do with your diet is to go low carb and feed the nervous system ketones.
Another actual cause of peripheral neuropathy is too much B6. The typical B6 that a lot of people take is a synthetic version, which by the way is not the active version. It has to be converted. A lot of people can’t convert B6 to the active form. So, a lot of people that show way too much B6 in their blood really are severely deficient.
The way to solve this is to look at all your supplements and make sure they don’t have any synthetic B6. Take the active version of B6, P5P. Another key nutrient is magnesium. In fact, B1 or benfotiamine will not work if you’re deficient in magnesium. So, if you see a research study that shows that, “Oh, yeah, benfotiamine doesn’t work for peripheral neuropathy.
” I will bet you anything they’re probably not even considering the cofactors to allow it to work because so many people are deficient in magnesium. So, we need the right form. The one I would recommend is magnesium glycinate because you’ll get better absorption with that. Ideally with meals if you have the opportunity, but it’s not a necessity. If you have damage in the nervous system, especially numbness, you have to realize that’s been going on for quite some time.
But, you might have to give it at least two to four weeks to start working. And in some cases, if it’s really, really bad, it may take even longer, three to six months. Another reason why you might have peripheral neuropathy is you’re low in B12. And then there’s one more helper compound, and that’s called alpha lipoic acid. It works on a lot of different conditions, but this provides a very powerful antioxidant to help the nerves.
What else can benfotiamine help? Let’s talk about that. Well, anything related to diabetes because diabetics have problems with the eye, the retina, the kidneys, and especially the heart. If you are diabetic, benfotiamine can support these tissues. Alcoholics usually are very deficient in B1.
And you have the autonomic nervous system problems related to diabetes. Benfotiamine is good for that. Tinnitus, it’s ringing in the ear. Benfotiamine has been shown to help that condition. Foot edema, chronic fatigue syndrome, dementia, and even mood conditions like anxiety and depression, OCD, fibromyalgia, and long COVID.
Since I mentioned backdoor ketones, I think the absolute most important thing for you to learn next would be how to get your body into a state of ketosis where you can start feeding these nerves the correct fuel. From this video right here, check it out right now. Just click that and watch it.
